How is Mint Mobile coverage in the real world?
The numbers and stats you see above are a great way to get a feeling of just how robust Mint's coverage is, but we aren't satisfied with just going by the numbers. I took Mint out for a month-long spin to see just how good the service is out in the real world. For the most part, I found the Mint's coverage was strong. There were no hiccups in the San Diego area and surrounding suburbs. I even took the phone to New Orleans and got great service.
I did have trouble finding a consistent signal in the more rural Temecula Wine country (just north of San Diego).
How fast is Mint Mobile data?
I was consistently seeing speeds between 200Mbps and 400Mbps with the coverage I was getting. Signal strength has a direct effect on data speeds, so having access to strong Mint coverage meant I also got to see the carrier at peak speeds. Naturally, in the rural areas where coverage wasn't great, I couldn't really test speeds—I had no data signal to test.
