Page Plus is a no-contract, CDMA cell phone service, operating on the Verizon network and owned by TracFone Wireless. The Verizon MVNO offers the newest phones on the market, but customers can also bring their own unlocked, compatible Verizon devices to Page Plus plans.
Customers can choose between standard no-contract options, or pay-as-you-go plans that allow users to add minutes, data and text by purchasing refill cards. As of April 2016, pay-as-you-go plans start as low as $10 for 120 days, with a 365-day option priced at $80. The longer the plan term, the lower the per-minute cost for talk, although text and data rates remain the same.
No-contract monthly plans start at $12 per month for 250 minutes of talk, 250 texts and 10MB of data. If you prefer more monthly data, the $69.95 plan features 7GB of LTE/full speed data, and unlimited talk, text and 2G data. All of Page Plus’ no-contract plans, with the exception of its $12 option, include $10 of international calling credit each month.
Page Plus also offers a $9 global calling card that can be added to any monthly or pay-as-you-go plan, allowing users to call over 1,000 destinations worldwide (with the balance rolling over from month-to-month while your service remains active). International roaming is available on all Page Plus plans, and international text to over 90 countries is available for around $0.20 per message.
If you’re looking to buy a brand-new device, you can select from more than 35 smartphones from companies including Samsung and Apple. Despite being a prepaid carrier, Page Plus does offer payment plans for devices, with handsets available from $0 down for qualifying customers. Page Plus also sells refurbished phones, meaning you can pick up good-as-new devices for a more affordable price.
If you’re bringing your own device, you’ll need to make sure your device is unlocked, has been paid in full, and is compatible with Page Plus services. As long as the device is an unlocked, postpaid Verizon CDMA smartphone, it’s easy to switch: simply insert your Page Plus SIM and activate.
Page Plus is ideal for customers looking for a contract-free option that won’t require a credit check or a long-term commitment. As long as you bring your own phone, or pay for a new phone outright, you can avoid being locked in thanks to a service agreement. There are no roaming charges in the US, and customers can check and refill their account balance from their Page Plus device.
There is a downside to Page Plus: service is only compatible with Verizon-capable devices. Customers can’t bring an AT&T, Sprint or T-Mobile device to Page Plus, due to differing network technologies.
