More about Cricket

Cricket Wireless is now a subsidiary carrier of AT&T and operates on AT&T’s 4G LTE network. This means that it is compatible with unlocked GSM phones. By using the AT&T network, Cricket now offers 2G, 3G and 4G LTE (a far more broad ranging footprint than the original footprint pre-AT&T's acquisition.

Cricket Wireless has a wide variety of monthly cellular plans that also include data allowances. Cricket plans start out with a Basic Plan with 2.5GB up to an Unlimited plan that includes truly unlimited data with no slowed speeds. Cricket also offers unlimited talk, text, and data roaming in Mexico and Canada on plan tiers starting at the Basic Plan rate. Cricket also offers family plans that allow up to 12 lines on one account.

Cricket wireless offers a mobile hotspot add-on that allows users to connect up to 6 different devices to their Wi-Fi hotspot. Wi-Fi Hotspot uses the data from a customer’s plan. For customers looking to bring their own phone to Cricket, they can do so as long as the device is an unlocked, compatible GSM device.

Cricket offers a full range of smartphones available to buy outright, however there are no monthly payment or installment plans offered. The main downside to Cricket is the fact that only GSM phones can operate on the network, most CDMA devices from Sprint & Verizon will not function on Cricket.
